Possibly the best reason to go to Belguim!

26 Sep

Just came across this amzing shoe collection via The Cool Hunter – although as the owners call it a ‘shoe experience’ perhaps that description doesn’t do it justice!

If you ever find yourself in Kruishoutem in Belgium (it’s about 40 miles from Antwerp and Brussels, or so I’m told) this has to be worth a visit. It’s called SONS (?) and consists of three collections. The first is the Ethnographic Collection: it includes 2,700 pairs from 155 countries and is acknowledged by the Guinness World Records as the largest collection of tribal and ethnological shoes.
Then there’s the Modern Collection — some 1,200 pairs acquired from artists, many of whom customized the shoes, evoking the question: Are they art or shoes? Shoes or no shoes?
Finally the Designer Collection showcases unique footwear form 20th-century and contemporary designers including Salvatore Ferragamo, Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik.

And I though the best reason to go to Belguim was to overindulge in moule, frite, beer & chocolate shells – shame on me!
