Modish named as Cambridge’s best Indie Fashion shop!

5 Jun

Sarah and Julian  You know, ShoesieQ’s probably in danger of repeating herself here. But she’s rather enjoying this footwear retail lark.  Not only does it mean she’s surrounded by shoes on a daily basis (!) but she gets to meet the good folk of Cambridge and Saffron Walden and their respective environs every day too. Plus she’s actually won an award or two in the process.

Now, dear reader, this last bit may not exactly sound thrilling to you. But if ShoesieQ looks back on her life so far she’s not exactly been showered with plaudits. In fact before she owned Modish the last award was probably related to passing her Cycling proficiency test aged 8!

So she was really rather chuffed when she got a call last Friday from the offices of Dr Julian Huppert MP to say that Modish had been voted as Cambridge’s best independent Clothing and Accessories shop!  This was all part of Julian’s laudable initiative ‘Discovering Cambridge’, which, in the words of his website, aims to “celebrate the best independent businesses that Cambridge has to offer, and encourage more residents to support these worthy traders.” You can read more about it here:

So on Monday this week ShoesieQ got to meet Dr Huppert, as you can see from the pic above. And she has now a lovely certificate which, if you’re anywhere near Green Street, you’ll see takes pride of place in Modish’s shop window.

Even better The Cambridge News kindly ran the story too, which you can read if you click on the link below (we’re on page 9).  Which is not only great publicity for the shop, but had an unexpected additional bonus. Namely the realisation that ShoesieQ really does need to do something pronto to get rid of a couple of extra chins that appear to have sprung up out of nowhere!

You’ll see what I mean if you take a look. Ouch!

Thanks so much for your kind words neighbour – really appreciate your support! Maybe we should try to do something similar for Saffron Walden? Definitely know who’d be getting my vote in the Sweetie category…… 😉
