Cambridge Style Week C’est Arrive!

20 Feb

Just a quick post before ShoesieQ dashes out to the very first catwalk event of the very first Cambridge Style Week! Yes, East Anglian fashionistas, the long wait is over – CSW is finally here!

For those of you who are, say, a little behind the times (!) Cambridge is about to be treated to a 5 day celebration of style and fashion, starting tonight with an opening show based on The Best of British. Which is going to feature amongst many exciting things lingerie-based delights from Prohibido, super-stylish raincoats from The Cambridge Raincoat Company and a few pairs of shoes and boots from ShoesieQ’s very own little shoe boutique Modish.

And as the theme is all about the UK we couldn’t resist slipping a few pairs of these little beauties in the mix 😉

High heeled sequined union jack courts by Iron Fist, £65 (2)More to follow from the front row! But if you can’t wait that long or haven’t yet booked your tickets check out CSW’s excellent website www.cambridgestyleweek.com

Calling all Cambridge Fashionistas!

Psssst! Have you heard? Our beautiful city is going to get its VERY OWN FASHION WEEK! Move over Paris, Milan, new York, and yes, even London, the new kid on the block is here! Well, it will be on February 20th 2013, when this massively exciting event kicks off.

And as befits a city of Cambridge’s intellectual might, not to mention sense of quirky fun, this is not just going to be about a bunch of bored looking teenagers stomping up and down a runway trying to look cooler than thou. Sure they’ll be a catwalk or three – it’s still the best way to showcase the many talents and looks of our city. But according to the Cambridge Style week’s very own website we can also expect

“a diverse range of complementary events, including exhibitions, networking events, themed parties and many more functions designed to innovate, inform and inspire.”

Even more excitingly the info page of the site promises

“Headline shows to shopping experiences, exhibitions to style rides, live performances to lectures, CSW 2013 promises to draw everyone from savvy students to industry leaders.”

How cool is that eh?

So – get out diaries right now and make sure February 20 – 24th is kept free – you wouldn’t want to miss out on the fun eh? And while you’re at it why not check out their website:

not to mention their facebook page for the most up to date news and info

PS And if you like the female model’s shoes it would be remiss of me not to mention that they’re from Modish Cambridge and just £79.99 a pair (they come in charcoal black and tawny brown) ;o)

Shoesflash!

15 Jul

ShoesieQ started the day by purchasing some new Spanish shoes for her shops this morning. And, if she’s being honest, she found it a bit tricky to get her head around this particular buying session.

Now to many of you this may not even seem comment-worthy – let alone a  suitable topic for a blog. And certainly not worthy of a Shoesflash! After all, a shoe shop doesn’t just magically fill itself every few months (more’s the pity). As far as I’m aware there’s no such thing as the Shoe fairy.

No, the thing that was messing with ShoesieQ’s mind this morning was that she was looking at shoes for Spring/Summer 2012. Which somehow seems to go against the laws of something – nature perhaps – when we really haven’t yet had a summer in 2011! Yes, I know, there was that lovely spell of weather in April. But in ShoesieQ’s head, at least, that seems like an awfully long time ago.

Anyway – enough whinging about the weather – and onto the subject of the shoesflash. Namely the very good news that brogues will still be around next summer!I don’t know about you, but I was assuming that they’d have been relegated to Fashion Sibera sometime about now. But no – they’ll be gracing the feet of the fashionably shod for at least another 12 months.

And this gladdens the very cockles of ShoesieQ’s heart. For what’s not to love about a style that with get the nod from the  fash-pack, but won’t have your podiatrist foaming at the mouth? And what’s more, can be worn with impunity by everyone from age 8 to 80+.

So dear reader, I placed a small order – and here it is! In fact I placed 2. As I loved these styles so much that I’m getting them shipped over from Spain in October as well as March!
